Pakistan Super League 2020 qualification scenario after March 14: What do the teams need to qualify?

Karachi Kings needed 18 to win off the last 2 overs to beat Islamabad United in Match 28 of the 2020 PSL and guarantee a semi-final berth. They took just 8 balls to get there. The win meant that they are now set to finish third in the league and play the second semi-final.

The result also led to the elimination of the United, but the other three teams are all in the hunt for two spots. Here is what the sides need to do:

Multan Sultans: Qualified, will finish first, will play semi-final 1.

Karachi Kings: Qualified, will finish first, will play semi-final 2.

Peshawar Zalmi: They go through if the Sultans beat Lahore Qalandars. Even if the Sultans do not win, they should still qualify unless Quetta Gladiators beat Karachi Kings by a colossal margin.

Lahore Qalandars: They will finish third if they beat the Sultans. If they lose, they will have to back the Kings to beat the Gladiators.

Quetta Gladiators: They need to absolutely thrash the Kings. If they win by a narrow margin (the bare minimum), the Sultan have to beat the Qalandars.

Islamabad United: Eliminated. They will finish fifth if the Gladiators beat the Kings; otherwise will come last.
