Eden Park, Auckland, the largest venue in New Zealand, will host the second ODI between New Zealand and India. Primarily a rugby venue, Eden Park hosted the final of the 1987 edition as well as two quarterfinals, both semifinals, and the final of the 2011 edition.
Home to Auckland Cricket Association, Eden Park has also hosted the semi-finals in the 1992 and 2015 cricket World Cups. And in football, it serves as one of New Zealand’s international grounds, and hosted a FIFA World Cup qualifier in 1988.
In all, Eden Park has hosted 50 Tests, 76 ODIs, and 21 T20Is. Memorable moments include Wally Hammond’s 336 not out; New Zealand’s first Test win (against West Indies in 1955-56); Sachin Tendulkar’s 49-ball 82 in his first ever ODI innings as opener; and two titanic World Cup semi-final clashes, remembered for two iconic performances from Inzamam-ul-Haq and Grant Elliott.
