IPL 2019, Orange and Purple Caps, updated after KXIP vs KKR: Russell crosses 500, Gayle at five, Shami at four

Match 52 of IPL 2019 did not bring much joy for the top ten run-scorers. However, there were some minor incidents. Andre Russell‘s 14-ball 24 made him the third in the tournament to breach the 500-run mark. Russell (510) is currently 12 behind KL Rahul, who got only 2.

Among others, Chris Gayle (14 in 14) drew level with Quinton de Kock at fifth place, though Gayle’s strike rate of 159 is significantly superior to de Kock’s 134.

No KKR bowler has featured in the list of top ten wicket-takers this season, and that did not change. Mohammed Shami (1/15) took his 17th wicket of the tournament, which placed him at joint fourth with Yuzvendra Chahal. R Ashwin (1/38), too, moved to joint seventh.
