Test cricket returned to Pakistan after over a decade, and they decided to celebrate the occasion with an emphatic win. Rain did not allow much cricket at Rawalpindi, but Pakistan crushed Sri Lanka by 283 runs at Karachi to win the decider by almost a day’s cricket to spare.
The win also helped Pakistan leapfrog past New Zealand and Sri Lanka to secure third place. They are now tied with Sri Lanka on points (they are on 80 apiece) but are ahead on RPW (0.765 to 0.589). However, they are well behind Australia (216), let alone India (360).
