Australia crushed New Zealand by 296 runs in the first Test at Perth to 1-0 up in the Trans-Tasman Series. Australia are now on 216 points, still 144 behind India’s 360 (despite having played a Test more) but 136 clear of anyone else. New Zealand stayed on 60 points.
Thanks to rain, bad light, and a wet outfield, only 167 overs of cricket was possible in the historic Test at Rawalpindi, the first on Pakistan soil in over a decade. The Test was drawn, which allowed Sri Lanka to score 20 points and move to third place on the table.
Pakistan, too, opened their account to reach sixth place, ahead of West Indies, Bangladesh, and South Africa, all of whom are yet to get off the mark.
