India and New Zealand had to split points after their World Cup match at Trent Bridge was washed out; England Women completed a comfortable whitewash of West Indies Women; Zimbabwe recalled Brendan Taylor and Hamilton Masakadza for their Netherlands tour; and Somerset pulled off a stunning win in the County Championship.

Damp squib at Trent Bridge

There was no play at Trent Bridge, which meant that India and New Zealand had to be content with a point each. Both sides managed to stay unbeaten in the tournament.

This is the fourth abandoned match of the ongoing World Cup, already twice as much as in any other edition.

England Women thrash West Indies

England Women beat West Indies by 135 runs (DLS Method) at Chelmsford. Batting first, Amy Jones (80 in 83 balls), Tammy Beaumont (46 in 54), Sarah Taylor (70 in 61), and Heather Knight (40* in 19) helped England put up 258/4 in 39 overs. Hayley Matthews claimed 2/52.

West Indies were never in the hunt in pursuit of an adjusted target of 267 in 39 overs. Kycia Knight top-scored with 38, but their team sunk to 131, Kate Cross (2/16) and Sophie Ecclestone (2/27) doing most of the damage.
