After an intense run of 93 matches, Vitality Blast 2019 will finally have a six-day break, till August 22. Every team has played at least 10 matches till this point (six teams have played 11 each). Ahead of the hiatus, let us see where all 18 teams stand.
North Division | M | W | L | T | NR | P | NRR |
Lancashire Lightning | 11 | 6 | 1 | 0 | 4 | 16 | +0.900 |
Worcestershire Rapids | 10 | 5 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 12 | +0.389 |
Nottinghamshire Outlaws | 10 | 4 | 3 | 0 | 3 | 11 | +0.757 |
Derbyshire Falcons | 10 | 4 | 4 | 0 | 2 | 10 | +0.069 |
Durham | 11 | 4 | 5 | 0 | 2 | 10 | -0.245 |
Birmingham Bears | 10 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 2 | 9 | -0.470 |
Leicestershire Foxes | 10 | 3 | 4 | 0 | 3 | 9 | -0.991 |
Northamptonshire Steelbacks | 10 | 2 | 4 | 0 | 4 | 8 | -0.151 |
Yorkshire Vikings | 10 | 1 | 4 | 1 | 4 | 7 | -0.379 |
Though they have a match in hand, Lancashire Lightning has broken free of other sides, establishing a clear lead in the North Division. One win in their remaining 3 matches will guarantee them a quarterfinal shot. Even three defeats may do it unless Durham win all 3 of their remaining matches (and a few other combinations work as well).
Every other team will have a clear shot at the quarter-final, for the difference between second-placed Worcestershire Rapids (who are also the defending champions) and last-placed Yorkshire Vikings is a mere 5 points. Two consecutive wins or defeats for any side may decide
South Division | M | W | L | T | NR | P | NRR |
Sussex Sharks | 10 | 6 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 15 | +0.861 |
Kent Spitfires | 11 | 6 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 14 | +0.101 |
Middlesex | 10 | 6 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 13 | +0.724 |
Gloucestershire | 11 | 4 | 3 | 1 | 3 | 12 | +0.099 |
Somerset | 10 | 5 | 4 | 0 | 1 | 11 | +1.007 |
Hampshire | 10 | 3 | 5 | 0 | 2 | 8 | -0.164 |
Surrey | 11 | 3 | 6 | 1 | 1 | 8 | -0.406 |
Essex Eagles | 10 | 2 | 4 | 0 | 4 | 8 | -1.164 |
Glamorgan | 11 | 0 | 6 | 1 | 4 | 5 | -1.752 |
The South Division is not as open: there is a clear chasm between the top five and the bottom four. While no side has actually qualified, it is very likely that four of the top five will. With a point ahead of second-placed Kent Spitfires and a match in hand, Sussex Sharks are favourites to qualify.
On the other hand, Glamorgan have already been eliminated, while Hampshire, Surrey, and Essex Eagles have a lot of catching up to do.
