Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20: Preview – October 9

October 9 will feature 4 matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20, with three matches in Elite Group C, and one in Elite Group B.

Elite Group B (at Vadodara): Baroda vs Punjab

The home side, Baroda, are bottom of the 18-team Cross Pool table, with no victories in their five matches so far, including three defeats – to Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Punjab have an opportunity, therefore, to get back to winning ways after their loss yesterday to Himachal Pradesh by 25 runs. Before that, they had consecutive victories against Vidarbha and Haryana.  

Elite Group C (at Jaipur): Bengal vs Tripura, Railways vs Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan vs Services

Tripura’s clash with Bengal should be an interesting one. Both teams have three victories so far in six matches, but while Bengal have lost two, Tripura has suffered three defeats, the latest coming against Tamil Nadu on Sunday.

Tamil Nadu, meanwhile, have been in stellar form with six consecutive wins in as many matches. They face a Railways side who have been on a downward curve since their opening victory Bihar. This should be another four points for Tamil Nadu.

Similarly, Rajasthan will be up against it when they take on Services. Rajasthan have no victories in six matches, with their two points coming from one washout. Services, meanwhile, have four wins in six, and saw off Jammu and Kashmir in their last outing.
