October 8 will feature nine matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20, with three matches each in Elite Group A, B and in the Plate Group.

Elite Group A (at Alur): Chhattisgarh vs Kerala, Goa vs Mumbai, Jharkhand vs Saurashtra

With three wins and one no result from five matches, Chhattisgarh are currently sitting pretty near at the top, at the third position in the joint ranking from Group A and B. A match against lowly placed Kerala will be a perfect opportunity for them to push towards a better spot. Mumbai are currently at the twelfth spot with just eight points from four matches. Two of their matches were abandoned due to rain which did not help. They would hope for clear weather today for the match to clinch a victory. Based on their last two wins in consecutive matches, Jharkhand will be hopeful against Saurashtra who lacked consistency. However, both the teams are on eight points and it should be a tight contest between them.

Elite Group B (at Vadodara): Delhi vs Uttar Pradesh, Haryana vs Vidarbha, Punjab vs Himachal Pradesh

Delhi and Uttar Pradesh both are on ten points with three abandoned matches each. Both of them won their respective solitary completed match and would look for another win to strengthen their position in the points table. Vidarbha also had three abandoned matches and lost their other two matches. They would look to earn points against Haryana before it is too late for them. Both Punjab and Himachal Pradesh are on the same points but Punjab played two lesser matches than Himachal and would look to move towards the top with the matches in their hand.

Plate Group (at Dehradun): Meghalaya vs Mizoram, Nagaland vs Uttarakhand, Puducherry vs Sikkim

Meghalaya, Uttarakhand, and Puducherry would look to get wins and maintain their respective positions in the table. A critical win for Puducherry over Chandigarh in their last match gave them the top spot and they would look to create a gap with a big win against bottom placed Sikkim.
