October 7 will feature 12 matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20, with three matches in Elite Group A, B and C, and as many in the Plate Group.

Elite Group A (at Alur and Bengaluru): Andhra vs Karnataka, Chhattisgarh vs Saurashtra, Goa vs Hyderabad

Andhra got something out of their daunting clash against Mumbai two days back when it was washed out with the teams sharing spoils, but they will face another biggie in Karnataka, the table-toppers with three wins in four. The pick of the matches, however, is the clash between Chhattisgarh and Saurashtra – both sides have two wins in four matches, with Chhattisgarh’s victims including Mumbai. Hyderabad, meanwhile, are No.3 in the table, and are expected to have too much for Goa.

Elite Group B (at Vadodara): Baroda vs Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh vs Vidarbha, Maharashtra vs Odisha

Rain relented in Vadodara over the last week, meaning there were two completed matches in three. If that continues, Uttar Pradesh, who have had all their three matches washed out, will have a chance to get their first win against Baroda, who have lost two in five. Vidarbha and Himachal will have similar hopes – both sides have lost one in four matches, with the remaining three washed out.

Elite Group C (at Jaipur): Bengal vs Madhya Pradesh, Bihar vs Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat vs Railways

Bengal have had a middling campaign – three wins and two losses in five matches – and will look to make the most of a clash against a Madhya Pradesh side in similar form – two wins and three losses. J&K will have a chance to add to their points tally against Bihar, who have lost off of their four matches, while Gujarat will have a chance to take the top spot when they clash with Railways, who have just one win in five matches.

Plate Group (at Dehradun): Arunachal Pradesh vs Uttarakhand, Assam vs Manipur, Chandigarh vs Puducherry

Chandigarh are on a three-match winning streak, and are top of the table, but that run could be snapped by second-placed Puducherry in the hottest contest in the group.
