Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20: Preview – October 1

Eleven matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20 will be played on October 1. Incessant rain has prevented play in several matches so far, which has led to multiple sides not being able to even take field. In fact, Punjab, Baroda, and Manipur have had both their sides washed out.

Elite Group A (at Alur): Mumbai vs Saurashtra, Hyderabad vs Karnataka

Only two matches will be played in Group A. Mumbai, stunned by Chhattisgarh in their previous match, will definitely want to whisk a couple of points here – never an easy task against Saurashtra. Karnataka have won both their matches, and will take field as favourites against Hyderabad.

Elite Group B (at Vadodara): Delhi vs Vidarbha, Baroda vs Odisha, Maharashtra vs Uttar Pradesh

All matches in Elite Group B have been washed out till now, which means that every single team will take field for the first time – if they get a chance, that is.

Elite Group C (at Jaipur): Tamil Nadu vs Bengal, Railways vs Services, Rajasthan vs Gujarat

Having won all 3 of their matches, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat are favourites in their respective matches. Railways will fancy their chance against Services, who have lost 2 of their 3 matches – including getting bowled out for 82 against Tamil Nadu.

Plate Group (at Dehradun): Sikkim vs Chandigarh, Uttarakhand vs Manipur, Nagaland vs Meghalaya

This is going to be an interesting round: of the six teams, only Uttarakhand and Meghalaya have got off the block till now. One of Sikkim and Chandigarh will register their first win, too.
