David Warner defied Kings XI Punjab and law of averages to pile up a 56-ball 81 at Uppal. He eventually fell 8 short of the 700-run mark in the tournament. Unfortunately, he will join the Australia squad, which means that he will not feature again in the 2019 edition.
Not that his Orange Cap is in any sort of threat. KL Rahul‘s 56-ball 79 took him past the 500-run mark – he is only the second player to the mark this season – but he still fell 172 short of Warner’s tally. His teammate Chris Gayle’s 4 were enough to take him to the fifth spot, 3 ahead of Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate Jonny Bairstow.
