Only 50 balls of cricket were possible in Match 49 of IPL 2019, but they were enough for a change in the list of top run-scorers in the tournament. Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli’s blinder (25 in 7 balls) took him to joint sixth place, level with Kings XI Punjab’s Chris Gayle ahead of teammate AB de Villiers and Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Jonny Bairstow.

De Villiers himself got a 4-ball 10 but that did not help his rank. Ajinkya Rahane, the only representative of Rajasthan Royals in the top ten, did not get to bat.

The bowlers were restricted to an over each, but Shreyas Gopal took a hat-trick with his last 3 balls. His 3/12 helped him reach the second spot; he is now 7 wickets short of Purple Cap holder Kagiso Rabada’s tally.

Yuzvendra Chahal bowled just 2 balls, but got the only Rajasthan wicket. He is currently tied on third sport, with Imran Tahir, 1 wicket behind Gopal.
