While his Sunrisers Hyderabad opening partner Jonny Bairstow has slipped to fifth spot, David Warner has still held on to the Orange Cap in IPL 2019 – though the likes of KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, and Andre Russell are threatening to catch up.
As for the Purple Cap, Kagiso Rabada rose up the ranks at lightning speed, and is now 4 wickets clear of anyone else. That will take some time to catch up.
Russell, however, continued to dominate the IPL 2019 MVP chart despite not taking a lot of wickets. He now has 207 points. To provide perspective, the next four are cooped between 148.5 and 152.
Players | Teams | Points |
Andre Russell | Kolkata Knight Riders | 207.0 |
Jos Buttler | Rajasthan Royals | 152.0 |
Chris Gayle | Kings XI Punjab | 150.5 |
Jonny Bairstow | Sunrisers Hyderabad | 148.5 |
Kagiso Rabada | Delhi Capitals | 148.5 |
Russell’s strike rate fell from 268 this week, but even at 213, he is 29 clear of anyone else in the tournament. Interestingly, there is no specialist batsman in the top five.

Gayle has broken away from the next cluster and is threatening to catch up with Russell in the sixes department, but really, that has to do with their batting positions. Gayle has hit a six every 9 balls compared to Russell’s 5.
Players | Teams | 6s | BF | B/6 |
Andre Russell | Kolkata Knight Riders | 30 | 146 | 4.9 |

Bairstow continues to lead the fours chart, though Buttler has almost caught up. Gayle features here along with the sixes chart, which indicates how reliant he is on boundaries.
