Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore will host the first of the 2 Tests between India and Bangladesh. The ground has hosted a solitary Test so far, between India and New Zealand in 2017-18: India had won the Test by 321 runs thanks to a double-hundred from Virat Kohli, hundreds from Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara, and R Ashwin’s 13-wicket haul. However, there have 5 ODIs and a T20I here.
The ground, previously known as Maharani Usharaje Trust Cricket Ground, serves as one of the two major venues of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association, the other being Captain Roop Singh Stadium, Gwalior.
The old Holkar Stadium used to be part of the current stadium. It was here that Holkar had won three Ranji Trophy titles under CK Nayudu, India’s first Test captain.
Known for its excellent turnaround in every match, Holkar hosted the 2016-17 and 2017-18 Ranji Trophy finals despite Madhya Pradesh not featuring in either.
