India coasted to victory in the second T20I against South Africa to go 1-0 up in the three-match series – the first T20I was washed out – thanks to Virat Kohli excelling in a chase. Elsewhere, Bangladesh secured a tri-series final with Afghanistan, and Australia Women piled further misery on West Indies in Antigua.

Kohli stars as India go 1-0 in T20Is

Virat Kohli starred in a chase again as India eased to a seven-wicket victory against South Africa to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series, following the washout in Dharamsala.

South Africa posted 149/5, thanks to half-centuries from new captain Quinton de Kock and a 49 from debutant Temba Bavuma, but were largely restricted by Deepak Chahar, who returned 2/22.

Then, Kohli and Dhawan set the tone of the chase after the fourth-over dismissal of Rohit Sharma, and despite Rishabh Pant falling for a 5-ball 4 thereafter, Kohli saw the chase through in the company of Shreyas Iyer (16*).

Bangladesh secure place in tri-series final

Mahmudullah’s 41-ball 62 and a strong performance from their bowlers helped Bangladesh secure a place in the T20I Tri-Nation series final against Afghanistan.

Bangladesh posted 175/7, thanks largely to Mahmudullah’s half-century after most of the top order failed to convert their starts, including Liton Das (38 off 22) and Mushfiqur Rahim (32 off 26).

However, Zimbabwe floundered in their chase. Four of their batsmen made ducks, and apart from Richmond Mutumbami’s 32-ball 54, and contributions from Hamilton Masakadza (25) and Kyle Jarvis (27), no other batsmen impressed as they were bowled out for 136.

Jamaica Tallawahs returns to losing ways

Despite seeing off Barbados Tridents for their first victory in CPL 2019, Jamaica Tallahwahs returned to losing ways after being comprehensively outclassed by table-toppers Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The Warriors secured an 81-run victory that boosted their net run rate to nearly 2, ater posting a 219-run target thanks to half-centuries from Brandon King (59) and Shoaib Malik (67* off 37) and a 25-ball 44 from Shimron Hetmyer.

With only two of the top- and middle-order batsmen reaching double figures, Jamaica had no hope of toppling such a high target. Glenn Phillips scored a 32-ball 40 and Andre Russell tried his best with a 19-ball 40, but Jamaica were bundled out for 130 in 17.3 overs, with Keemo Paul returning 3/34.

Australia complete 3-0 sweep of West Indies in WT20Is

Jess Jonassen and Georgia Wareham shared seven wickets between them as Australia bowled West Indies out for just 81 in the third and final T20I in Antigua.

Their batters then took just 7.3 overs to topple that target, losing the wicket of Alyssa Healy (38 off 16) in the process.

Jonassen was named Player of the Match after claiming career-best figures of 4/7 in her 4 overs. The 9-wicket victory meant Australia swept the series.
