Five teams are through to the next round of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers; Pakistan Women went 1-0 up in the T20I series against Bangladesh Women; Tamim Iqbal has withdrawn from Bangladesh’s upcoming tour of India; and Megan Schutt did the hat-trick in WBBL.

PNG, Netherlands, Namibia, Ireland, Oman through to next round

Papua New Guinea, Netherlands, Namibia, Ireland, and Oman all qualified for the next round of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

Ireland received a massive boost to their net run rate in the first match of the day. Craig Young (4-0-13-4) and Mark Adair (4-1-10-2) first helped restrict Nigeria to 66/9. Led by Kevin O’Brien’s 17-ball 32 not out, Ireland romped home in the seventh over.

Netherlands breached the 200-run mark for the first time in their history, largely due to a 77-ball 123-run opening stand between Max O’Dowd (58 in 41 balls) and Ben Cooper (58 in 38). Set to chase 207, Bermuda crawled to 114/9 (Kamau Leverock 31 in 15, Paul van Meekeren 4-0-26-3, Pieter Seelaar 4-1-10-2).

Gerhard Erasmus (72 in 46) then helped Namibia put up 191/8 under lights as Amjad Mahboob took 3-0-29-3. Singapore then collapsed to 104 by Jan Frylinck (3-0-21-4) and Christi Viljoen (3.1-0-14-3).

Pakistan go one-up

Pakistan Women beat Bangladesh Women in the first match of the 3-match T20I series, at Lahore. Batting first, Pakistan put up 126/7 largely due to Bismah Maroof (34 in 29 balls), Umaima Sohail (33 in 36), and Iram Javed (21 in 17). Jahanara Alam had 4-0-17-4 and Rumana Ahmed 4-0-14-1.

Bangladesh lost wickets in response against Anam Amin (4-0-13-2) and Aliya Riaz (4-0-12-1). The only resistance came from Rumana (50 in 30), but Bangladesh were restricted to 112/7.

No Tamim for India tour

Tamim Iqbal has opted out of the India tour in November. He has expressed willingness to be with her wife, who is expecting their second child. The tour will feature 3 T20Is and 2 Tests. Bangladesh have named Imrul Kayes as his replacement for the T20Is. The injured Mohammad Saifuddin has been ruled out of the tour as well. The squad reads:

Shakib Al Hasan (c), Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Liton Das (wk), Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Naim, Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain, Aminul Islam, Arafat Sunny, Al-Amin Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Shafiul Islam.

Kapp takes hat-trick

Marizanne Kapp (4-0-16-3) rocked Melbourne Stars with a hat-trick, helping restrict them to 107/9. Kapp bowled Madeline Penna and Nicola Hancock, and trapped Holly Ferling with the last three balls of the 19th over – in other words, she did not require the aid of a fielder. Sydney Sixers won by 8 wickets in the 18th over.

This was the Stars’ third defeat in as many matches, while the Sixers are at fifth place.
