Bangladesh Tour of Sri Lanka

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has announced squad for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka and despite all the speculations, Mashrafe Mortaza continues as the captain of the team. The BCB has announced a 14-member squad for the 3-match ODI series in Sri Lanka. There are three changes from their World Cup squad. Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das have been granted leave and the fast bowler Abu Jayed has been dropped. For replacements, they have brought in left-arm spinner Taijul Islam and batsman Anamul Haque Bijoy.

BCB has already announced Wasim Jaffer and Champaka Ramanayake as their batting and bowling consultant for the Sri Lanka tour. Both of them are working with the BCB High Performance Unit currently.

England squad for Women’s Ashes announced

England Women Ashes squad for the upcoming test match on 18th July was announced on Tuesday. The 13-member squad includes pacer Katherine Brunt and left-arm spinner Kirstie Gordon as both were out due to the back problems in recent times. The rest of the team is pretty similar to the ODI squad.

The Australians are leading the Ashes race with 6-0 points, thanks to their three wins and need just two more points to retain the Ashes. Hence this will be a do-or-die test match for England.

Concussion Substitution to be initiated from Ashes

One of the key talking points in the ongoing ICC Annual Conference is to formally announce an option for a concussion substitute for the upcoming test championship. If agreed the option would be included in the Ashes for the first time. The rule is already there for Australian domestic cricket and now it will be implemented in international cricket.

There are still decisions to be made regarding the requirement of minimum medical standard by the team or an independent doctor to be involved in all matches.
