Spectators at the Saturday’s Sydney Smash got their money worth, for the result was as close as any. After a tie, Sydney Thunder needed a six off the last ball to win in the Super Over; Alex Hales got a four off Tom Curran, and Sydney Sixers got their 2 points to replace the Thunder at the top spot of the BBL 2019-20 points table.
Thunder might have lost the match, but their captain Callum Ferguson got a 42-ball 52 to secure top spot on the runs chart. Despite his failure (11 in 17), Josh Philippe of the Sixers reached fifth place.
