Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20: Preview – October 4

cricket generic

October 3 will feature 11 matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20 – two in Elite Group A, and three in each of Elite Group B, Elite Group C, and the Plate Group. This includes matches at the three venues at Vadodara, which have – between them – managed to host a solitary completed match out of 12.

Elite Group A (at Bengaluru and Alur): Chhattisgarh vs Goa, Mumbai vs Hyderabad

Chhattisgarh’s shock win against Mumbai has been the upset of the tournament so far. An upbeat Chhattisgarh will now take on Goa. Mumbai, on the other hand, face a sterner challenge, against Hyderabad, who are currently second on the table.

Elite Group B (at Vadodara): Himachal Pradesh vs Uttar Pradesh, Delhi vs Baroda, Odisha vs Haryana

There is little to predict here. Odisha have beaten Himachal Pradesh in the only one match finished match of the group so far. They will both play in separate matches tomorrow.

Elite Group C (at Jaipur): Madhya Pradesh vs Services, Tamil Nadu vs Jammu & Kashmir, Tripura vs Rajasthan

Having won all 4 of their matches, Tamil Nadu now have an easy opposition in Jammu & Kashmir. Tripura, in surprisingly good form, should further consolidate their position against Rajasthan. Madhya Pradesh and Services are evenly matched.

Plate Group (at Dehradun): Assam vs Chandigarh, Pondicherry vs Nagaland, Uttarakhand vs Mizoram

Chandigarh and Pondicherry are unbeaten so far. However, Chandigarh now face third-placed Assam, while Pondicherry have an easier opposition in Nagaland. There is little to choose between Uttarakhand and Mizoram, both being middle-of-the-league teams.
