Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20: Preview – October 15

On October 15, Baroda will host Vidarbha in a Elite Group B match at Gujarat State Fertilizer Corporation Cricket Ground, Vadodara. This will be the only match of the day at Vijay Hazare Trophy. While this is Baroda’s last match, Vidarbha have a match in hand, at the same ground against Maharashtra.

While Karnataka (24) Punjab (24), Chhattisgarh (22), and Uttar Pradesh (20) hold a clear lead, six teams – Hyderabad Baroda, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Odisha, and Maharashtra – have 18 each. Of these, Hyderabad and Delhi have a match each in hand, while Baroda have played an extra match.

A win here (they have now won 3 in a row) will help Baroda stay alive in the tournament, but that is about it. They will have to wait for help from other sides to qualify.

With 14 points, Vidarbha are more or less out of the hunt, more so because of their net run rate (-0.198). Even two wins are unlikely to do it for them.
