IPL 2022 – Top 5 Knocks

IPL 2022 has been one of the highest-scoring editions in the tournament’s history with eight centuries and over 1000 sixes hit across the 74 matches, and here are our top five knocks from season 15.

5. Shivam Dube (Chennai Super Kings) – 95* (46) vs RCB

Shivam Dube helped the Chennai Super Kings win their first game of the season in sensational fashion as he hit an IPL career-high score of 95 from 46 deliveries against his former side at the DY Patil Stadium. Dube went after the RCB spinners – Hasaranga and Glenn Maxwell – and shared a brilliant 165-run partnership with Robin Uthappa to take the Chennai Super Kings to a commanding first-innings total of 216.

4. David Miller (Gujarat Titans) – 94* (51) vs CSK

David Miller’s performances in the middle order were one of the primary reasons behind the Gujarat Titans’ success in IPL 2022, and the South African played one of the innings of the tournament against CSK in Pune. Coming in at 16 for three, Miller single-handedly helped Gujarat chase down 170 with just one ball to spare as he launched a spectacular counter-attack through the middle overs and stayed there till the end to finish the job.

3. Jos Buttler (Rajasthan Royals) – 106* (60) vs RCB

Jos Buttler enjoyed the second-most prolific season in IPL history in 2022 as the Englishman scored 863 runs and four centuries for the Royals. The most audacious of those four centuries came against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Qualifier 2, where Buttler tore apart the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Shahbaz Ahmed to send Rajasthan to the final. Chasing 158, Buttler raced away to a 23-ball half-century and took the Royals home with 11 balls to spare, hitting ten fours and six sixes to score a record-equalling fourth ton.

2. Rajat Patidar (Royal Challengers Bangalore) – 112* (54) vs LSG

The most surprising knock of IPL 2022 came from the blade of Rajat Patidar, who became the only uncapped Indian batter to score a century in the playoffs in the IPL. Patidar smashed an incredible unbeaten 112 of just 54 deliveries against the Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator at the Eden Gardens, propelling RCB to a 200+ target after their superstar openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis departed early on.

1. Quinton de Kock (Lucknow Super Giants) – 140* (70) vs KKR

The best innings in IPL 2022 belongs to Quinton de Kock, who smashed the third-highest score in Indian Premier League history at the DY Patil Stadium against KKR. De Kock smashed ten fours and ten sixes in his majestic knock of 140 off 70 deliveries and also shared the highest opening stand in IPL history alongside KL Rahul, with the pair adding 210 runs for the first wicket. After starting slowly, de Kock switched through the gears effortlessly in the second half of the innings as he tore apart the likes of Andre Russell and Tim Southee and scored an incredible 71 runs in the final five overs.
