ICC World Cup 2019 most runs, wickets after England vs Afghanistan: Root leaps to second spot, Archer to third

Joe Root England

Eoin Morgan might have stolen the show against Afghanistan at Old Trafford with his ridiculous 71-ball 148, but they were not enough to lift him to the top five in the 2019 World Cup run-getters chart. He will have to be content with the sixth spot for now.

Joe Root (88 in 82) climbed to second spot and Jonny Bairstow (90 in 99) to eighth. Three runs behind Bairstow is his usual opening partner Jason Roy, who did not play today. Jos Buttler’s 2 runs were enough to place him at tenth spot, making it five Englishmen in the top ten.
