ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 Match 11, South Africa vs Thailand: Preview, prediction, likely XIs

South Africa Women

In the 11th match of the Women’s T20 World Cup, South Africa will meet Thailand at Canberra. South Africa had a great start of the tournament with a coming from behind victory against England. Whereas the spirited Thailand side showed lots of great promise in both their matches but eventually faltering in front of players much superior in both class and experience compared to them.

Mignon du Preez cameo was the main focus in South Africa’s win over England but the Innings was controlled by captain Dane van Niekerk’s 46 and Marizanne Kapp’s 38 and the top order batters would look to cash in against the Thailand bowling. The duo has also picked up a couple of wickets each in a brilliant all-round show. Ayabonga Khaka picked up 3 wickets and will like to continue her rhythm.

Thailand really impressed with their fielding and agility on the ground. In bowling also they have a couple of top class bowlers in Soraya Lateh and Nattaya Boochatham. In both the matches they put their opponents under early pressure before fading out. They would like to maintain the pressure for a longer period. Batting is their weak spot and in both the matches they could score only 78 runs in 20 overs. That’s where they need to improve a lot to compete at world stage.

Head to Head

No prior match between these two teams.

Key Players

Dane van Niekerk (South Africa): The captain is taking lots of responsibility for the team. Now with bowling 4 overs of her leg spin she is also batting at the top and giving an aggressive start to her team most often than not. Against Thailand also Niekerk would expect to flourish in both departments.

Soraya Lateh: Lateh has 2 wickets in the tournament and impressed one and all with her left arm orthodox spin bowling. She would like to take a few more wickets to maintain the pressure on opponents for a bit longer.
