The television umpire will exclusively monitor the front-foot no-ball during the series between India and West Indies; Bangladesh piled up 255/2, then bowled out Maldives Women for 6 in the 2019 South Asian Games Women’s Cricket Competition; CA will request India to play two day-night Tests in the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy; and Robin Morris has been arrested for alleged kidnapping.

Television umpire to check no-balls

The third umpire will be the exclusive judge for the front-foot no-ball for the between India and West Indies (3 T20Is, 3 ODIs). If the experiment comes off and this becomes a permanent fixture, the probability of wrong decisions will obviously reduce.

“The outcomes of the trial will be used to gauge whether the system has a beneficial impact on the accuracy of no-ball decisions and whether it can be implemented while minimising disruption to the flow of the game,” ICC announced in a press release.

Bangladesh 255/2, Maldives 6

Maldives had already lost to Sri Lanka by 249 runs in the 2019 SAG Women’s Cricket Competition. Now they lost by exactly the same margin against Bangladesh. However, the match was not given T20I status.

Batting first at Pokhara, Bangladesh Women were reduced to 19/2 before Nigar Sultana (113* in 65 balls) and Fargana Haque (110* in 53) added an unbroken 236 in 18 overs.

Then Maldives collapsed to just 6 in 12.1 overs(they were 2/7 at one point) against Ritu Moni (4-3-1-3) and Salma Khatun (3.1-1-2-3). Only two of their batters reached double figures.

India to play two day-night Tests in Australia?

Cricket Australia will request India to play two day-night Tests as part the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar series. These are likely to be played at two of Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth.

Indian captain Virat Kohli had earlier agreed to play day-night Tests as long as the Indian team got a practice match under lights. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had mentioned that the request should come from the hosting board.

India played their first Test under lights last month, when they thrashed Bangladesh at Eden Gardens.
