CPL 2019: Guyana Amazon Warriors vs St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Match 11: Preview, predictions, likely XIs

Ali Khan CPL Caribbean Premier League

Guyana Amazon Warriors will take on St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the 11th match of Caribbean Premier League where the former will look to maintain their winning trot by defeating the latter who managed to register only one win out of four matches.

The Warriors will play their first away game of the season after winning all three of the home fixtures. On the other hand, the Patriots will be in the mood of revenge as out of their three defeats, one came against the Warriors. But interestingly their only win was one of the most exciting games of this season till now by chasing down 242 to beat Jamaica Tallawahs at Warner Park.

The arrival of Imran Tahir in the absence of Shadab Khan is a major boost for the Warriors. Shadab’s consistent contribution will be well compensated by the star player. Tahir was a key element for Guyana in last season. Romario Shepherd and Chris Green have been at par so far. Shimron Hetmyer has a tendency of scoring good amount of runs against the Patriots. Chandrapaul Hemraj has been in good form. Ben Laughlin could make a return to the side this time replacing Odean Smith.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, in all likelihood, will recall Sheldon Cottrell after getting confirmation about his fitness. Cottrell is a key bowler who had an excellent wicket-taking start to the tournament. Rayad Emrit needs to get back his form and Carlos Brathwaite has been a disappointment. They can definitely depend on Evin Lewis, Devon Thomas, and Laurie Evans in the batting department. Evans has been excellent so far. All eyes will be on Dominic Drakes after his late hitting last time and can have a promotion.

Head to head

Guyana Amazon Warriors have a clear dominance as they have won seven out of nine matches played against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots so far.

Key players

Shimron Hetmyer (Guyana Amazon Warriors): He showed good mettle in a game against St Kitts & Nevis last season where he scored a 45-ball 79 and repeated the same this year by scoring a 70*. This trend can be a game-changer for Guyana.

Laurie Evans (St Kitts and Nevis Patriots): He has played only two matches so far already the second highest run-getter of the team. His total score is currently 105 at an average of 52.50. No wonder the team will expect more from him.
